Exploring Udaipur
First stop today was our friendly chai man for our morning cuppa
..we also had a vada pav whilst we were there.
We then crossed the footbridge over to the next little island...we wandered the narrow streets of beautiful buildings. On the way we were stopped by a man offering massages..he took hold of Darryl's hands and squeezed various bits and told him where his problem areas were. Whilst he was doing this his colleague did the same to Christine ... Seems we have similar problems...we declined the massage and wandered on.
We came across a beautiful hotel with a very old Landrover parked outside, there was also an Austin Seven parked inside a glass room. Whilst we were looking the guard said we could go into the grounds, so we wandered down to the edge of lake with beautiful views back towards the City Palace.
We carried on walking and eventually crossed another bridge to see another lake. On our way a man stopped to chat and as we are now finding out, most of them are 'artists' who want to show you their work. He took us into another lovely hotel and showed us some beautiful artwork and we met one of the artists. We declined the offer to buy the £2,000 painting, as beautiful as it was.
On we walked, passing a beautiful mosque which was really busy as Friday prayer had just finished... Darryl was allowed to go into the grounds to have a look.
We reached the lake on the other side which looked beautiful with the hills behind.
After sheltering from the sun for a while we started to make our way back, stopping for cold drinks and dahi on the way.
Back at our haveli we showered and rested until it was time to head out for dinner. last night's dinner was so good we decided to go back. Tonight we had buffalo korma (not like the korma back home, it was extremely spicy!) and a vegetable sabji all mopped up with butter naan and rumali roti - delicious!
