Georgetown
Today is moving day. We packed our bags, had breakfast and said goodbye to our wonderful friend.
We caught the bus from Batu Feringghi into Georgetown which took around 40 mins. We had decided to get off at the jetty so we could check out the ferry for when we have to leave Penang. There is a ferry every hour over to the mainland and it is free!
We then wandered down towards Fort Cornwalis, which although open appeared to be under renovation. We walked on along the promenade and then went in search of food.
We settled on an Indian restaurant we had been to on a previous trip and the food was good! After a couple of cups of teh tarik and having done a bit of research on the next part of the trip we headed back out. We passed a beautiful Hindu temple with and it appeared to be the starting point for the Thaipusam procession on this weekend.
Next we caught the free CAT bus which does a loop around Georgetown with stops at the most prominent tourist sites. We stayed on until the end and got off at Komtar, the main bus station and also home to the tallest building in Penang.
We had some time to kill before we were due to meet our friend so we made ourselves comfortable in McDonald's to use their WiFi. We met our friend and headed home. We then sat chatting for hours learning all about the Chinese culture around weddings, births and deaths.
