Donut Delight

Breakfast at the market
today started with breakfast at the local market. We wandered around looking at all the goodies and settle on something not so healthy! Hot coffee and pa thong ko (little Thai donuts) . After this we had another wander but ended up back in the same spot for a Thai iced tea. We didn't intend on having any more donuts but the kind lady on the stall gave us some more... How could we refuse!

Back at the hotel we did some more research for our trip to India before heading out for a walk. We didn't really have a plan so just headed out of the hotel in the opposite direction to which we usually go. We stopped and looked in a few shops along the way and then found ourselves on the street where the schools are... and school was finishing, which meant the street food sellers would be out. Today's treat was sticky rice with crispy chicken skin and sweet fried chicken. We so had a pancake with a mini hotdog and various sauces... Both delicious! We were going to have another Thai tea but unfortunately the lady had ran out!

We carried on waking past the school and spotted a sign the the 'Krabi Historical Walk' so headed that way. Along the street are a number of brass sculpture pictures telling the story of Krabi going as far back as the dinosaurs. Next was the City Hall and City Pillar. There were giant Thai flags flapping in the wind.  There was also a small temple with each corner guarded by a number if elephant statues in varying sizes. At city hall they rolled out a red carpet for our arrival or could it have been for someone else? We didn't wait to find out.  In the roundabout nearby there were some beautiful, life size elephants statues.

We continued down the road and came to the river for a gentle stroll in the cooling breeze. Next we eat late lunch at the usual evening market. As we were earlier, there was food everywhere. We sat and enjoyed Tom Yam soup and sweet and sour Thai style before remembering we needed to buy a few things at the shopping centre. We bought what we needed and headed home to rest our legs.

A short nip out about 9.30 to grab a meal from the evening market. A chicken curry and what we thought was mushroom curry. We must have misheard the lady and it was actually mussel curry. We ate the mussel curry first but it was super spicy so we have no idea what the chicken curry tasted like! Any sensation in our mouths had gone!

We stayed up late buying a few essential items for the boat and tried to locate a missing parcel not delivered to our friend in France.
