Ferry

After another lovely breakfast at our accommodation we packed our bags and headed to the port. Today we are getting the ferry to Coron (after much ado with the ferry ticket!!).

We arrived at the port, paid the port fee and waited. We then queued and were all told to line our bags up for drug inspection. We then collected our bags and queued again, this time for the bag scanner. Then to the waiting room, where we waited!  Eventually we boarded the ferry and set off 30 minutes late.. having had to be at the port one hour prior to departure!
The views along the 4 hour journey were stunning, passing many of the 7000 odd islands of the Philippines.  We saw a couple of sailing boats anchored in one little bay.  There were lots of beautiful sandy beaches and we spotted the odd resort on some of the islands.

On arrival in Coron we headed to the Montenegro office as we had been told the supervisor would be there and expecting us, to discuss all the hassle we had had with the (non) ticket.  We arrived at the office only to be told the supervisor was now in EL Nido, where we have just come from!! The poor girl in the office didn't know what to do.  She spoke with someone on the phone and we were given an email address to send our complaint to.  Not very satisfactory.  We have established the supervisor will next be in the office in Sunday.  Unluckily for him we will be back in Coron by Sunday.....!!!

We checked into our lovely looking homestay, on a small hill overlooking the bay (although by this time it was dark). We checked in, left our bags and went out to explore.  Coron is much more like we had expected El Nido to be.  It has some fancy hotels and lots of bars and restaurants... and a McDonald's!
