Forgot

Yes today we forgot to wake up. 10 o'clock was the time we eventually woke. We think it is so dark in our room that there is no light to persuade us that it is time to get up!

This morning we went to the Central Festival Mall. We dropped our friend's daughter at piano lessons and whilst she was learning, we were shopping.

When we arrived home we were treated to a hotpot. A small hob was doing the heating of the soup broth and vegetables, meat, eggs and noodles were being added. As soon as they had all been boiling away for a while they were taken out and eaten! We watched a famous Thai comedian on TV with English subtitles whilst we ate.

As dusk arrived we went to the famous Sunday walking street in the centre of Chiang Mai. It was packed with people and huge. It sold clothes, bags, postcards, food and all sorts of other things. We even saw a huge Netflix promotion for the comedian we had been watching at lunchtime. There were many singers too either in bars or on the street. We walked for miles in different directions before heading out of the maze.

Parking is tricky. Sunday seems to be the busiest day of the week. We tried to stop to pick up food put that proved more difficult than anticipated. Eventually, we found a spot behind the university. Luckily for us this was street food heaven. The whole road is full of stalls selling different foods. Each stall was packed with students enjoying a delicious meal. No daily pasta and onions for these Thai students. We joined them and had a really nice meal. We are even learning a few more names for the variety of dishes available. However pictures remain the preferred way of ordering.
