Waterfall

This morning we started reasonably early. We waited for 'the boys' to turn up with their toys.

2 Royal Enfield bikes, a Bullet and a Himalayan arrived and we were whisked off into the hills. The traffic was quiet and the roads in good condition.

We stopped at a small cafe for tea and cookies, oh and muffins and more cookies! It was a funky little place with photos of the local tribes from the hills.

We were joined by more of our friends and we all left for the waterfall together. Shortly after we stopped to explore Grandma's land full of cacao trees. We collected a few and ate the white flesh. Very sweet and good!
Next stop was the river area. We trekked through the forest a short way until we found the falls and the huge boulders we would call home for the day.

We set up camp and our friends prepared the fire. They went off into the woods and returned with cooking pots and a chicken

The fire was built on a large boulder using smooth rocks to support the griddle. It was made with sticks, coconut shells and a little kerosene to make it burn!

It took a little while to get going but then became a mass of glowing embers. The chicken had been marinated in loads of masala spices and was loaded in to the fire.
We relaxed, admiring the beautiful environment. Butterflies, birds and the flow of the stream kept us day dreaming.

As the chicken was almost done, more food appeared from the forest. Rotis and gravy to accompany the chicken. This was going to be a feast!

The chicken with its accompanyments was amazing. So delicious!
After we had stuffed the lot, a short rest was due before swimming time in the crystal clear pool. The water was a little cool but very refreshing. The surrounding boulders heated by the sun were amazing to lie on!

After some more relaxing, we packed up camp and headed off.  We stopped along the way to see an old bridge, which we decided looked a little too rickety to walk over, although our friends did!
We headed back down the mountain on the backs of the lovely Royal Enfields. Back in town we stopped for tea and snacks.  This time we had a type of egg custard, a ball of batter with some green vegetable and egg inside, and some fried banana and coconut.

Back at the house we all relaxed after our busy day. Some other friends stopped by to say hello and so did some of our friend's family.

We had a relatively early night as tomorrow is an early start as it is travel day..
