Mussoorie

A relaxing start to the day. It is going to be difficult to break this habit when we need to get 5am buses! Breakfast and ginger tea were as always delightful.

We said our goodbyes to our hosts and staff and even discovered our missing item of laundry. We were gifted a box of chocolates for our journey which was a very nice surprise. Were were dropped off in the centre of Dehradun and  had a short walk to the bus station. On the way we saw lots of Tibetan/India border post guards with fancy orange crescent hats.

Tickets purchased with a specific bus number and allocated seats. We found the bus, purchased crisps as a snack and waited for the off. It wasn't long and we were on our way to Mussoorie.

The traffic through Dehradun was busy. However it soon thinned out once we started to climb. The road up was about 25km and wound round and round the hillside like a snake. The views started to get more impressive as we reached the top. We passed the 'real' Shiv Mandir too.

We arrived in Mussoorie and our first task was to find a place to sleep. Not far from the Library bus stop was a small, good priced hotel that we had seen on our Gobibibo app.
We checked it and it was perfect for us. We checked out a few others too but not sure why they wanted double the money. Bags dropped off, we went exploring.

We didn't get too far as it was dark now. However just off Mall Road we found food. Gobi (cauliflour) parathas all round. We took a stroll along the pedestrianised Mall Road lined with shops and restaurants. It started to get cold and we were glad we had purchased jackets in Dehradun. On our way back to the hotel we bought and ate some bananas. Back at the hotel we ordered room service chai before wrapping ourselves up in giant blankets and going to sleep.
