Fun at the Fair

A lazy morning. We woke up late and spent the day relaxing mainly because we predict a big night ahead.

Before lunch we relaxed. Lunch was delicious home cooked food. After lunch we relaxed.

About 5 pm we headed out in search of adventure. We had a slight change of plan because the tourist price to walk the new artificial river front was £6 each. That will cost double our average hotel room price and just to see cardboard cut out buildings. Well, not exactly but they are similar!

Instead our friend suggested some other local spots. A river front view near the power station. It is called a thermal power station. Not exactly sure why as we think it is burning coal?

We visited a small temple with music and a small audience. Close by was an artists area. The artists were painting pots that were moulded in many different colours.

Our next stop was the dam (barrage). We are fairly certain the dam was out of bounds but there was no security and everyone else was there too. We walked the old road, across the dam and it gave good views of the river front. There were huge gates to allow water to flow when needed and at the opposite end a haunted house. A notice said you should only enter at your own risk. Not because the ghosties will get you but so the Government is not responsible when the whole building collapses on you.

We nipped home via grandpa's, where we ate cake (met more family too), then a delicious katori stall. Oh and Badam shakes and ice creams! In fact the Bombay Chowpati specials were really good. We got stuck at a road closure for a procession to pass.

Coffee at 'home', we relaxed a while and waited for our next outing -The Dussehra Mela (fun fair).

We parked up, chatted to the car park attendents and into the fair we went. There were a number of large, brightly lit big wheels, pirate ships and other rides! We opted to keep our feet firmly on the ground but our friend liked the challenge of the pirate ship and we took the photos. There were stalls to shoot ballons, places to buy 'stuff' and it was packed. Every few metres we were required for a selfie shoot with some locals.

As if we needed it, we shared a Rajasthani thali between us. Now we were fit to burst.

The journey home was a little cool, especially as we passed the open areas. Urgent sleep  was now required as the alarm clock is set for 3 hours time!
