Dadar
Breakfast at our hotel was just like yesterday. Boiled egg...etc.etc.
It started to rain so we took shelter in a bus stand, right by the tea stall. When the rain didn't stop we had more tea! Eventually the rain eased so we wandered on and found a man selling Pani Puri, a favourite Indian street food snack. We stopped and ate and they were delicious. The rain eventually stopped so we walked some more, drank chai and made our way to our accommodation.
Today we had a lot of time to kill so everything was done at a ssssllloow pace. The first job was to ensure we had hit all of the Mumbai sights with a spot of Googling! The Internet seems to drain time and before we know it lunch was calling.
We needed to walk 30 mins to Churchgate station. On our way we saw nteresting buildings, parks, rats, butterflies, birds and people. We were surprised at how many places were closed on a Sunday and finding a restaurant was proving more difficult than expected. There were plenty of snack bars selling burgers, kebabs etc. but we want Indian food!
We changed direction and searched for the wonderful restaurant from yesterday. We were not 100% sure where it was. We got pretty close but stumbled on a small place, totally full of people. That is always a good sign and in we went. The food was good and a great price. We enjoyed another vegetable thali with a great variety of goodies.
We then continued our journey to Churchgate Railway Station. We went through an underpass where you could literally buy anything you wanted from street sellers! Out the other side, we purchased our 10 rupee ticket to Dadar, a suburb of Mumbai where we are staying for the next couple of nights.
On arrival in Dadar we got a huge shock. It was the busiest train station we have seen so far, there were so many people you just had to keep walking with the flow. When we eventually emerged from the station the streets outside were just as busy and crossing the road was almost impossible. We made our way away from.the station and found a little stall selling jaggery tea, so we stopped for a while ... unfortunately by the side of the busy road ...but the tea was good!
