Brilliant Bundi

This morning we took the opportunity for a spot of clothes washing. There is a long line outside to hang it on. Hopefully they will be dry before the monkeys start trying them on. Apparently, they will take anything that looks a little exciting! Clothes dry in an instant in the hot Indian sun.

Our hotel includes breakfast. So at 8.30 we were devouring aloo paratha and masala chai. A great combination topped off with curd.

A short walk into Bundi revealed so many interesting things - many hand water pumps, music shops, sword sharpeners, gold and silver sellers, a bike technician trueing a wheel, fort views, hand weaving looms and even a man making super elaborate pressed jewellery!
It was difficult to walk past anywhere without taking a closer look.

We were looking for step wells and we soon stumpled up on our first 2 right in the centre. They were quite big but what really caught our attention were small sweets. We tried different ones. We bought some, ate too many and felt sick! Parent Advisory: Don't eat too many sweets!

Our day tour of Bundi was great. We had chai with several lovely locals at their stall. One had a plaque with Indian prime minister Mr Modi. We were not exactly sure if had visited this tea stall or not. We drank lots of Lassi with some locals and chatted using Google translate in Hindu.

We visited a school sports day and chatted to the children but decided to leave as we were causing too much of a distraction. We spoke to the PE teacher, filled our water bottles and spoke to a physio who wanted to provide us with free massages.

More step wells later, we found one that was used as a temple. It was really interesting. We saw lots of step wells on our tour. We ate Katori for lunch as did most people judging by the busy restaurant!

We also visited the bus station to check buses for our exit to Kota and Christine had her sandals repaired. It was a stitch up.

In the evening we walked to the small lake. We ate momos whilst watching cricket on Disney Hotsar. A teenager played the match on his phone. Part way around the lake we took a right turn. It was a little dark but house lights soon lit the way. We stumbled on a whole group of locals hanging out at their houses. We caused a bit of a kerfuffle as mass selfies were required. Luckily we made it out alive but only just. Next we came across a wedding. We peeked inside and it was packed full of smartly dressed people enjoying themselves. We quickly disappeared before we caused a further riot! The hotel was calling so that was our next stop!
