Change of Location

After 3 weeks of snorkelling in Amed our time was up. We were leaving our rice field views and regular lunchtime gado gado behind.

The shuttle bus picked us up about 10am. We had some interesting people join us on our journey to Kuta via Ubud.

The traffic was slow but fairly usual for Bali. Our fellow travellers included;

A traditional healer from Chihuahua (Mexico). He had been meeting with traditional healers from around the world to share expertise.

A young Indian man who left India behind about 15 years ago to live in Australia. He had been living in Bali for about 8 months. He had collected videos of the rubbish in Bali. He may eventually put them together to highlight the problem of rubbish everywhere! He also gave us his views on the changing Indian population and culture. Young people leaving India for highly paid work, not getting married and embracing the western lifestyle.

The girl from Leicester. She was British but her family origins were in India. She was living in London playing astronomical rent and working in HR. She was enjoying diving Holidays in the top locations in Indonesia and the Philippines. She was also about to experience a meditation retreat in Thailand and was a little apprehensive. She was working up the courage to proceed on a freedriving course was couldn't relax enough, yet!

The lady from Russia (or so we believed). She didn't really speak to anyone. A little bit out of place. There are many Russian people now living in Bali, Thailand etc.

A strange lady from the UK. Much older than everyone else. Smiled a lot, talked a lot and went by the name of Christine.

We arrived in Kuta after a long slow journey. Partly due to the bus overheating and us having to switch. Partly due to traffic in Ubud.

A short walk to our homestay and off for some surfing!
