Mango Float
Breakfast on the terrace under the shade of the umbrellas. Porridge, bananas and hot coffee and a small kitten.
We walked into San Juan to look for the Sunday market in the park. There were a few stalls selling clothes and a couple that had food but it all seemed fairly quiet. In fact, we didn't even see the girl we spoke to yesterday making rice packets in banana leaves to sell. We did however find cakes and burgers at the bakery just round the corner. After we trundled back to our usual lunch spot to partake. Vegetables and rice with a side order of noodles.
Looking out to sea kept us busy for the afternoon. The sun was shining and a brisk cool wind made it very pleasant. We sat under the large umbrellas in the shade researching future destinations and plans.
In the evening we walked in to San Juan. There was some singing in one of the bars but we didn't stop. Our regular BBQ destination closed early so we are next door. Darryl felt his foot becoming a little sore on the walk. It appears, although he didn't notice all day, that he must have trod on a sea urchin when snorkelling. He did feel a sharp prick on the beach during his walk to the sea but just pulled what he thought was a stick out. Anyway, after removing about 5 tiny broken spines from the bottom of his foot - we hope that is an end to it! No blood so hopefully no infection.
We had arranged to meet our lunch lady in the evening so that was our next stop. She was showing us how to create a mango float dessert!
She got everything laid out on the table, peeled the mangoes, opened the 'Graham's. She then mixed condensed milk and some Nestle cream and layered the lot in a plastic tub sprinkling biscuit crumbs as she went. About 4 layers later mango was added to the top for enhanced presentation. Mango float complete. Next step - the fridge to keep cool for tomorrow. Lesson over and a short walk home to bed.
