Feet

An early start today as we are on the move. After our final breakfast at our lovely homestay of tofu, noodles and coffee we packed our bags and went to the train station.

The train arrived on time and by 8.19am we were on our way to Hue. The journey took 12 hours with fantastic scenery of limestone karsts, rice paddies, water buffalo and lush greenery. The locals put there feet up and slept a lot of the way.  We were a little surprised by a sudden downpour of rain but luckily it did not last long and thankfully we were on the train! Towards the end of the journey we discovered the hot water tap and we took full advantage. We ate 2 packets of instant noodles we had in our bags and made up a nice cup of coffee from a sachet left over from Thailand .

We were met at the station in Hue by the people we were staying with and as we drove through the city we were amazed to see a very modern and trendy looking place with neon lights and lots of fancy bars and restaurants plus a beautiful riverside boulevard. By night it certainly looked very different from other cities we have visited in Vietnam. It looked far more organised, less chaotic and very modern.

After a quick fresehen up and some fried rice we headed into the city with our incredible 9 year old Vietnamese mini guide who spoke perfect English. We all enjoyed amazing coconut ice cream with peanuts.

We reached the walking street soon after. Whereas in Thailand a walking street was a night market full of street food and little market stalls. In Hue walking street was full of trendy restaurants, bars and night clubs playing extremely loud music! We had a quick look before our mini guide guided us home.
