Yoga

An early start today to attend a yoga class with our friend before she starts work. A 5am alarm clock woke us up and a short bus ride and we were there. The yoga studio was at the top of a tall Thai house but first we had to navigate past the family dog. We are sure he is friendly but he didn't like us creeping through his family home at 6am!
Yoga was excellent and we feel so privileged to have been allowed to take part in a private lesson. The yoga teacher spoke a little English to help us which was so accomodating. It was amazing to see our friend complete incredibly advanced yoga positions with ease!

After we had rested we were treated to a plate of super sweet bananas before heading off on our own. We took a small ferry across the river before taking a longer ferry ride to Wat Arun. Here we jumped off to do some temple admiring. Wat Arun is pretty spectacular. We followed this with a trip past the reclining Buddha and Grand Palace. The river is very high due to the recent storm. The typhoon from the Philippines was downgraded as it hit Thailand to a storm. Thankfully we missed the 48 hours of rain. The next ferry station was so flooded we all had to remove our shoes and socks and take a short paddle through the flood!

Eventually we made it to China town where the vegetarian festival was dominating the streets with Chinese dragons and Chinese lions. There was music and food, the perfect combination.

After sampling a number of unusual dishes we headed to meet our friend after work. We caught a ferry to ICON Siam and were just in time to watch the Thai dancing, part of the vegetarian festival.

We then caught a number of buses to a sensational night market. Guess what was there ...

MUSIC and FOOD

We are absolutely loving the variety of foods available to try. If we ate a different meal every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a year there would still be more to try!
