Party Hard

Lots of very late nights for us. Everywhere we seem to stop there is a live concert in the evening. By the time we get back to the boat it is in the early hours so we have succumbed to afternoon siestas. The moon is now full which is great for guiding our way back in the dark.

We are moving quite quickly to avoid the Easterly wind, that is unusual for this time of year. It is normally a sea breeze from the SW or a Mistral from the NW that is pretty fierce.

We had a great sail from Embiez to La Badine. The winds were light but the weather and sea conditions wonderful. La Badine allowed us to explore 150 ancient amphoreas (Sorry about the spelling - wine jars) that the  archaeology department reconstructed to represent a 2nd century ship wreck. We couldn't find them at first but realised we were snorkelling on the wrong side of Point Bouvet.

After a couple of nights in the La Badine anchorage we left for Borme and La Lavandou. The wind shifted to a SE direction which meant we could travel upwind and arrive in Borme in one long leg. Christine did a great job at the tiller steering the boat while I put my feet up and kept look out for other boats.

We woke up early to avoid walking in the heat and went shopping to ensure we had plenty to eat for the next week. We ended up buying a few extra items and the poor little tender was full to capacity. On the way back to the boat we were treated to  display by 2 super loud Typhoons over the sea. These things really roar! The afternoon was spent working out how to get one particular website to accept a UK postcode and other boring online tasks!

The forecast showed strengthening easterly winds which were due to pick up in the middle of the night. To prevent being woken in the night by a howling wind and breaking waves - we moved to hide behind Cap Negre. An easy sail in great conditions. On the way we passed a multi masted tall ship draped in the nautical code flags. It was huge.

A boat full of young french sailors anchored along side us in Anse De Cavaliers and stayed up most of the night in conversation whilst we slept. The morning was spent swimming and exploring a little house on the coast.

Another job was completed that was way behind schedule - pickling the emergency water maker (filling it with preservative to protect the reverse osmosis membrane that separates out the salt to make fresh water).

The roar of jet engines caught our attention as the French Patrouille Acrobatique (French version of the Red Arrows) flew over head as they started their display over the bay of La Lavandou.
